Once you contact me, I will schedule a 30min call with you during which I find out more about what brings you to therapy and, we will discuss how I can help you further.
The first therapy session can seem somewhat daunting. The process of you entering a stranger’s office to discuss your difficulties might seem foreign and artificial at first. I am respectful of this and work hard to create a therapeutic space that is inviting and open. During this first session, we will work toward establishing why you have decided to come to therapy and what you would like to achieve during our sessions. As the therapy continues, we will revisit these goals to see where you are in the process of reaching them.
The therapeutic space is one that I am very respectful of as it is where you need to feel safe and open enough to share your experiences with me. As the therapeutic process unfolds, I hope that you will become more comfortable with using this therapeutic space to your benefit.
I believe that each therapeutic experience is unique and as such there is no one approach that fits everyone. During therapy I shall work with you to explore and understand your challenges and together we will discuss different strategies to help you overcome your challenges. Some of these strategies include therapeutic techniques from a Cognitive Behavioural or Humanist perspective. A therapy session provides a place where you can reflect on your circumstances and find ways to overcome your challenges in an open and non-judgemental environment.
My work with you will focus on helping you to feel better in the present. Feeling better is a process. It is my hope that over time you will be able to implement the strategies from therapy to live a more fully and contently.
